The thesis outlines shortly the history of Library in the context of Aby Warburg's life and his scientific work. The next chapters are devoted to the description of Library's classification scheme and the organization of books based on the open shelves system, both in the connection with Warburg's scholarly methods. Within the scope of these issues, the deeper analysis of the term "research library", which was not so far discussed adequately in Czech librarian discourse, is done. Some of the strategies and rules coined by Aby Warburg for the purposes of efficiency of open acces book collection are closely clarified - "the law of good neighbourhood", serendipity, and others.
